Renee Kihanya is a Director and Photographer originally from Nairobi, Kenya, but is currently based in Los Angeles, California. She is a recent graduate from the New York Film Academy with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts, specializing in directing and screenwriting. Renee was raised in the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi,  then went to boarding school for 3 years on the coast of Kenya in Mombasa, and finally finished off her high school career at an international school in the Middle East. These multicultural and diverse experiences are represented in her works through how she blends and balances both the grit and the beauty of the human condition. She is also passionate about sharing the stories of the people from her country from a non-Western viewpoint.
